Christmas will be a little easier for Perth families in need this year as Anglicare WA, with the support of the local community, prepares to hand out food and gift hampers to over 1,000 families and individuals in crisis.

Christmas Giving will be held at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean and is proudly supported this year by the Swan Districts Football Club. Anglicare WA clients will have the opportunity to select gifts and food for their families to be made into hampers for the festive season.

“For many people, Christmas can be a sad time of year. Restoring to families the dignity of being able to choose food and presents for their own family members, and allowing them the joy of personally wrapping items to give to others, can really make a big difference,” said Ian Carter, CEO of Anglicare WA. “However, we could not do this without the support of all those who donate to our Appeal”.

Mr Carter said that he was thrilled to have the support of the Swan Districts Football Club.  “Steel Blue Oval is easily accessible for all our families whether or not they have their own transport. We greatly appreciate the Football Club providing this for us and on behalf of those families we will be assisting we say a huge thank you.”

Mr Peter Taliangis, Chief Executive Officer of Swan Districts Football Club, said they were excited to be assisting Anglicare WA. “If our contribution in donating the space makes Christmas more enjoyable for these families, then we have achieved a great deal.”

Anglicare WA supports over 30,000 Western Australians in crisis each year.
