Aboriginal Early Years Program

The Aboriginal Early Years Program (Little Peoples' Meeting Place ) builds on the cultural strengths within Aboriginal families and supports them to meet the needs of their children in the early years of their development.

The service aims to enhance parenting skills and facilitates linkages with supports in the community.

The service promotes parenting, knowledge/life skills and positive behaviour during the first three years of a child's life.

Aboriginal Early Years provides short-term culturally appropriate support and information to families and extended family for a period of eight weeks and is available for Aboriginal families with children 0 to 3 years of age.

Aboriginal Early Years acknowledges the importance of family connection to cultural history. The service also recognises and values the importance of extended families, particularly grandparents, aunts, uncles and Elders.

We work with families to set their own goals and empower them to take ownership and responsibility for their behaviour. This is a holistic, supportive parenting service which focuses on the spiritual, cultural, physical, emotional, environmental and social aspects of the family.

The service is provided in the Goldfields area with the main focus on Kalgoorlie /Boulder, Ninga Mia, Kambalda , Coolgardie and surrounding communities. The service is in partnership with the Aboriginal village of Ninga Mia .
