Saver Plus is a 10-month financial literacy and matched savings program that assists people to build savings for their own or their children’s education and in doing so strengthens their capacity to save. ANZ will match participant savings up to $500.

Saver Plus encourages families to save small amounts of money using simple techniques such as budgets, spending diaries and prompting people to consider ‘needs’ versus ‘wants’.

Anglicare WA is delivering Saver Plus in Albany and the Peel Region including Mandurah and is encouraging local families to join the program as it can assist to pay for expensive school costs such as school books, uniforms, computers and excursions.

Places are limited and to be eligible, Saver Plus participants must:

  • be over 18 years of age 
  • be the parent or guardian of a child attending school this year or next year OR be attending or returning to vocational education themselves 
  • have a health care or pension card 
  • have regular earnings from paid employment, and 
  • live, work , study or have a child at school in the area where a Saver Plus program is delivered.

Saver Plus is an initiative of the Brotherhood of St Laurence and ANZ, delivered in partnership with Anglicare WA, Berry Street, The Benevolent Society and The Smith Family, as well as other local community groups. Anglicare WA is delivering the program in Albany and is looking for 120 families to join.

Saver Plus is Australia’s first and largest matched savings and financial education program, which assists lower income Australians to build a lasting savings habit by strengthening their financial skills, knowledge and confidence. The program has supported nearly 12,000 Australians to date, matching their personal savings of up to $500, to help pay for educational costs for themselves or their children
