YES! Housing (Youth Externally Supported Housing)
YES! Housing (Youth Externally Supported Housing) is for young people aged 15 -17years who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness and are capable of living independently or willing to learn to live independently.
YES! Housing supports young people to access and then maintain a property provided by the West Australian Department of Housing. YES! Housing's waitlist is approximately 12 – 24 months for 1 bedroomed properties and 24 - 36 months for a family property. After this wait, young people are housed independently and permanently in a Department of Housing property. Workers provide holistic case management to young people and young parents who are housed or on the waitlist.
Trained youth workers support young people to develop independent living skills and to respond to barriers in their lives including, but not limited to, mental health, drug and alcohol, debt, conflict, family violence and social isolation. Specialist young parent’s workers also assist with issues surrounding effective parenting for young parents. This is all achieved by planning and implementing workshops on those topics as a way to support young people as they commence their transition into independent living.
We have a head office location in East Perth, with outreach to properties located in the north and south east corridors of the Perth metropolitan area.
