Separation Services

Helping families succeed after separation

Anglicare WA is the leading provider of Separation Services in WA, supporting families through the difficulties and disputes that often arise during a relationship breakdown.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding a separation, children have a right to a meaningful relationship with both parents providing it is safe for them to do so. All too often the needs of children are neglected as parents navigate the emotional distress of experiencing family separation leaving them unable to focus on the needs of their children.

Anglicare WA 's Separation Services maintained a strong focus on the wellbeing of children and are very child-focused.

Programs are available for parents, children and other caregivers covering a range of services including Family Relationship Centres, Family Dispute Resolution, Mums and Dads Forever, Children's Contact Centre and Supporting Children After Separation program.   Staff assist parents to focus on the needs of the children and to build on their capacity to continue in their role of parents despite the breakdown of the relationship.

Family Relationship Centres provide families with access to information about strengthening relationships, available services in the community and Family Dispute Resolution. Family Dispute Resolution helps parents to make arrangements (parenting plans) regarding their children with a key focus on the needs of children involved to ensure they feel safe, protected and loved by both parents,” she said.

Our Mums and Dads Forever program assists separated parents to focus on the best interests of their children and learn ways to minimise the impact of separation and conflict on their children and families. Participants are supported to reflect on their behaviour and are given strategies to manage their own situation and thus result in a more positive parenting relationship with the other parent which leads to better outcomes for their child/ ren .

Children's Contact Service aims to provide a safe, neutral, child focused environment in which arrangements for children to spend time with their parent can occur. The service provides an opportunity for children to have a relationship with both parents, while at the same time protecting the children form behaviours that could be stressful.

The Supporting Children After Separation Program provides support for children and young people who have experienced or are experiencing parental separation. The program supports children and young people to adjust to the changes separation may bring to the family.

Anglicare WA 's Separation Services are available across the various metropolitan and regional locations as well as some rural and remote locations. Most of these programs don't require a referral and parents are welcome to contact us for more information.

Separation Services employ clinical staff with experience working with families and children and require qualifications from the social science fields including psychologists, social workers and counsellors.

Staff need to be committed to providing quality services for families and children experiencing family separation with a strong emphasis on child focused practice.
