We give students the opportunity to engage in social justice, educate them about social disadvantage, and empower them to make a difference.
Our flagship program is the School Ambassadors program which culminates in the AWA School Sleep Out, and the Christmas Giving program, but many schools help us by running events throughout the year.
School Ambassadors Program
Our School Ambassadors program connects students from schools around WA with our work raising awareness and funds around youth homelessness; with
Participating schools nominate students in years 10 and 11 to serve as Ambassadors for one year. School Ambassadors will hear from guest speakers and participate in educational activities, raising their awareness of community need and social justice. We then support the Ambassadors to promote awareness of our work within their school communities and raise funds for Anglicare WA’s Street Connect service.
To learn how you can get involved in the School Ambassadors program, call Kelly, our Schools Officer, on (08) 9263 2066 or email on ambassadors@anglicarewa.org.au.
School Sleep Out
Each year students from our Ambassador schools swap their school bags for a sleeping bag and sleep out at Optus Stadium for young Western Australians experiencing homelessness.
While sleeping out, students learn more about the causes and complicating factors of homelessness and what they can do to help. All funds raised go to our Street Connect service who work with young people on the streets of Perth to help them get their lives back on track.
To find out how your school can get involved please contact Kelly, our Schools Officer, on (08) 9263 2066 or email on ambassadors@anglicarewa.org.au.
