At Anglicare WA, we believe that every child and young person has the right to feel safe, respected and supported. 

Safeguarding children and young people from harm is central to everything we do and why we're continually strengthening our practices to be a more protective and responsive organisation.

As a child safe organisation, we're committed to ensuring our services remain inclusive, focused on those most at risk, and built on the highest standards of care.

Child Safe Youth Safe Strategy

Anglicare WA's Child Safe Youth Safe Strategy ensures regular review of our systems, provides clear guidance for preventing, identifying and responding to abuse or harm, and fosters an organisational culture that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

Safeguarding Framework

Anglicare WA's Child Safe Youth Safe Framework is comprised of five segments:

Anglicare WA is committed to protecting and enhancing the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people engaged in our services and activities, and in our physical and online environments. All children and young people are valued, we actively create opportunities for their voices to be heard and take action to prevent and safeguard them from future, abuse, harm, and neglect.

Adherence to the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child assist Anglicare WA board members, staff, volunteers, students, and contractors to action their individual and collective responsibility to the safeguarding of children and young people.

We purposefully create environments where children and young people feel safe, are safe and their voices are welcomed, heard, and believed. Children and young people have the right to provide feedback or make a complaint relating to their experiences at Anglicare WA. Their input and feedback are encouraged, acknowledged, and responded to.

Anglicare WA takes a zero-tolerance approach to the harm, abuse and neglect of children and young people.

Risk management strategies focus on preventing, identifying and mitigating risks to children and young people and is an integral part of Anglicare WA's operations and day-to-day service delivery.

We maintain a robust risk management system to proactively safeguard the health and wellbeing of children and young people receiving Anglicare WA services.

Anglicare WA invests in a culture which prioritises the safeguarding of all children and young people through appropriate resourcing, seeking the advice and support of relevant stakeholders, prioritising both transparency and a continuous learning environment and ensuring adherence and alignment to relevant legislation and best-practice related to child and youth safety.

All Anglicare WA workers follow robust policies and practices to proactively safeguard the health and wellbeing of children and young people. Policies and procedures that inform our Safeguarding Framework include:

  • Child Safe Youth Safe Organisational Framework
  • Identifying and Responding to Concerns of Harm – Children and Young People Policy
  • Responding to Concerns of Harm – Children and Young People Procedure
  • Reportable Conduct Scheme Policy
  • Services Client Risk Management and Reporting Policy
  • Whistleblower Policy and Procedure
  • Qualifications, Licenses and Clearance Policy

The Organisational Framework outlines how Anglicare WA creates a safe, accountable, and child‑centred environment and organisational culture.

This Framework:

  • Includes our Statement of Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

  • Outlines actions for adherence to the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

  • Outlines actions for adherence to the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.

  • Informs Board members, workers, volunteers, students, and contractors of their obligations to act safely and ethically towards children and young people and outlines their roles and responsibilities to increase the safety and wellbeing of children.

  • Summarises the policies, procedures and other relevant documents for informing our response to all child safe youth safe risk across the organisation.

  • Provides specific information about the ways in which Anglicare WA will prioritise the safety of vulnerable children and young people.

Anglicare WA Charter of Children's Rights

At Anglicare WA, we believe every child deserves to be happy, safe and heard. 

Here are some important things every child should know:

  1. You Have the Right to Be Safe: No one should hurt you or make you feel scared. We are here to protect you.
  2. You Have the Right to Be Heard: Your thoughts and feelings matter. We will listen to you and take you seriously.
  3. You Have the Right to Learn and Play: You should have the chance to go to school, learn new things, and have fun.
  4. You Have the Right to Be Healthy: You deserve to have good food, a safe place to live, and to see a doctor when you need to.
  5. You Have the Right to Be Yourself: You can be proud of who you are, and we will respect your culture and identity.
