Commitment to Safety

At Anglicare WA, we believe that every child and young person has the right to feel safe, respected and supported.

Safeguarding children and young people from harm is central to everything we do and why we're continually strengthening our practices to be a more protective and responsive organisation.

As a child safe organisation, we're committed to ensuring our services remain inclusive, focused on those most at risk, and built on the highest standards of care.

Safeguarding Strategy

Anglicare WA's Safeguarding Strategy ensures regular review of our systems, provides clear guidance for preventing, identifying and responding to abuse or harm, and fosters an organisational culture that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

Our strategy and frameworks are informed by the following sources:

Safeguarding Framework

Anglicare WA's Safeguarding Framework is comprised of five segments:

Anglicare WA’s Statement of Commitment to Children shows our dedication to the safety, wellbeing, and rights of children and young people who engage with our services. It sets a clear standard that safeguarding is central to our values, decisions and the way we deliver services.

The Statement sets out our responsibilities under relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and safeguarding standards and what is expected from our workers, leaders, and partners, ensuring that everyone understands their role in protecting children from harm and promoting safe, respectful environments. It forms the foundation for our policies and everyday practices, helping create safe, respectful environments and building trust with children, families, and the community.

Anglicare WA is committed to providing safe, supportive and empowering environments for all children and young people engaged in our services and programs. Our Child Safeguarding Risk Management Framework embeds child safety and wellbeing into every aspect of our governance, culture and practice.

Guided by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, we take a proactive, child-centered and culturally safe approach to preventing harm. This includes strong leadership oversight, child-safe recruitment and training, clear codes of conduct, robust risk management processes, and accessible pathways for raising concerns. We actively identify, assess and manage risks across physical, digital and relational environments, with enhanced safeguards for high-risk activities.

Anglicare WA’s safeguarding policies and procedures provide a clear and consistent approach to keeping children safe across the organisation. They focus on prevention, early identification and building a strong culture of awareness, responsibility and continuous improvement. These include:

  • Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy
  • Safeguarding Code of Conduct
  • Safeguarding Handbook
  • Safeguarding Risk Management Framework
  • Responding to Concerns of Harm Policy and Procedure
  • Reportable Conduct Scheme Policy and Procedure
  • Critical Incidents and Serious Issues Policy and Procedure
  • Safeguarding Reporting Procedure

Safeguarding accreditation is an important part of strengthening our safeguarding framework and shows our commitment to protecting children and young people. It provides independent assurance that our safeguarding policies, procedures and practices meet recognised standards and are effectively in place across our organisation.

By maintaining safeguarding accreditation with an external independent agency, Anglicare WA demonstrates its commitment to creating safe environments where children are heard, supported and protected.

Our feedback and complaints process exists to help us understand your experience with Anglicare WA and continually improve our services. We encourage you to share your feedback and are committed to providing a safe and respectful space where your voice is heard.
