Quick Exit Banner and Safe Browsing

Safety Elements

On our site, the orange quick exit button appears at the top of our website pages.

Clicking anywhere on the button or pressing the Esc key will close the page and open the weather in the Bureau of Meteorology website in a new window.

Please note using the quick exit button does not delete your browser history

If someone checks your history, they may still see which pages you visited. You’ll need to delete your browser history separately.

How to Browse Safely

When you search the internet or visit a website, your web browser saves a record of your activity.

Common browsers include Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. This browsing history helps you easily return to websites you've visited before—but it also means that others using the same device can see which sites you've accessed.

You can delete your browsing history by going into your browser’s settings. Find out how to clear your history on:

Within your browser’s settings you can also choose to browse in Private or Incognito mode. This means that your browser won’t save your browsing history, cookies or site data.

Helpful Resources

Staying safe online is essential because the internet, while incredibly useful, can also expose you to risks like identity theft, scams, cyberbullying, and privacy breaches.

Protecting your personal information helps prevent others from accessing sensitive data such as your bank details, passwords, or location. Being cautious about what you share and where you click also helps you avoid harmful content and malicious software. By practicing good online safety habits, you can enjoy the benefits of the internet while keeping yourself and your information secure.
