16 Days in WA – Stop Violence Against Women is an annual campaign that takes place from 25th November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) through to 10th December (Human Rights Day), taking inspiration from the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
This year’s theme, Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play Your Part, calls on all of us to take action in challenging harmful behaviours and attitudes. It's about recognising that lasting change happens when we all make conscious actions in building a safer, more respectful community for everyone. With workshops, marches, panel discussions, and events happening across the state, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
Sixteen influential Western Australians have been announced as the 2025 Agents of Change for this year's campaign including Anglicare WA CEO, Mark Glasson, and General Manager of Aboriginal Service Strategy, Jarred Wall.
Comments attributed to Mark Glasson, Anglicare WA CEO:
"If we are serious about addressing the impact of family and domestic violence on the women, children and families of Western Australia, we can't rely on someone else to solve the problem. It's something that we experience as a community, and it's something we need to solve as this community.
"We can all play our part, whether it's calling at someone who's telling a joke that is offensive, whether it's looking at our brother or father who's demonstrating behaviours that are not okay, or whether it's just talking to young people about what healthy relationships are.
"There's something everyone can contribute, and we won't solve the problem unless we all do."
Comments attributed to Jarred Wall, Anglicare WA General Manager of Aboriginal Service Strategy:
"As a proud Noongar man and father, I want to be the kind of man who stands up for others so that everyone can feel safe to be themselves. Violence is not our culture. Our culture is strength, and we should be proud of who we are.
"I'm an Agent of change because stopping family and domestic violence is important to me and my community."
Anglicare WA also has a range of services that continue to support people who have been affected by domestic violence. We’re proud to stand with the 16 Days in WA campaign and remain committed to driving change well beyond the campaign end date.
