The community gathered together to bring a welcoming splash of colour to the CPC Dudley Park outdoor area.

Open and run by Anglicare WA, the Child & Parent Centre (CPC) at Dudley Park Primary School has been a much loved part of the Mandurah community for over a decade, providing a wide range of free services for local families.

Today, visitors of the Centre will be greeted by a brightly paved pathway, decorated timber poles and colourful community herb gardens. The transformation of the front of the CPC has been an ongoing project over the last two years, made possible through the creativity, time and generosity of people from across the community.

The colourfully painted timber poles were created through the Imagine Dudley Park project, an initiative focused on beautifying the local area through activities such as tree planting, yarn bombing and public art. As part of the project, a design competition was held through art classes at Dudley Park, Mandurah and Greenfields Primary Schools, with the winners having the opportunity to proudly bring their artworks to life.

The CPC also partnered with a range of local organisations to design their own poles, including a local LGBTQI+ support group, multicultural groups and Aboriginal children in the community, ensuring the space truly reflects the diversity of those who use it.

Local artist Kerrie Davies painted the hopscotch design along the front path and on the street library, while the pathway was painted by the staff at CPC as a Christmas present to the Centre. The front of the tunnel installation was funded by Streets Alive and designed and painted by a talented staff member.

Beyond brightening the space, the colourful entryway has doubled as a visual cue to slow traffic and improve safety along the surrounding streets. Organisations that share the space have described the entrance as “a big colourful smile” welcoming them into the Centre.

Together, these small but meaningful touches have created a space that feels joyful, inclusive and unmistakably community‑led.
