Anglicare WA has announced it will transition out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and close its Bridges Disability Service, marking the end of more than two decades of dedicated support for people with disability and their families across Western Australia.
Background:
Bridges has operated as a registered NDIS provider for seven years, with offices in Albany, Katanning, Collie, and Rockingham. Despite efforts to adapt, the service has faced four consecutive years of operating losses due to rising compliance costs and a pricing index that has not kept pace with inflation.
Mark Glasson, CEO of Anglicare WA, said:
“Anglicare WA has made the difficult decision to transition out of the NDIS and our Bridges Disability Service… We praise our staff for their professionalism, commitment and passion and are truly grateful to the people and families who have trusted us to support them.”
Impact and Transition Plan:
All participants and families have been contacted to develop personalised transition plans. Anglicare WA will maintain services during the transition period to ensure continuity of care and support.
Call for Reform:
The organisation urges the Commonwealth Government and NDIA to accelerate reforms highlighted by the 2023 Royal Commission and NDIS review to prevent further provider exits and safeguard the future of disability services.
