Swap Your School Bag for a Sleeping Bag
The Anglicare WA School Sleep Out offers students a unique opportunity to walk alongside 3,000 young Western Australians who go to sleep without a home every night – not just by raising funds, but by deepening understanding and empathy.
Each year, students from participating schools come together for one night in winter to 'sleep out' at Optus Stadium and lend their support to young people experiencing homelessness.
Anglicare WA School Sleep Out
Over 500 passionate students take part in the School Sleep Out every year to gain insight into the challenges faced by young people facing homelessness in our community.
During the event, participants engage in activities that highlight just how hard it can be for the 3,000 young people experiencing homelessness in WA each night.
The fundraising component of the event offers students a sense of achievement and a tangible way of giving back, with all funds raised directly supporting Anglicare WA’s Street Connect mobile youth homelessness service – also known as the Street Connect Bus!
On the night, students also get a chance to meet staff from Street Connect and other Anglicare WA services and hear from people with lived experience of homelessness, before settling in for the night on a scrap of cardboard on the concrete floor of the Optus Stadium concourse.
